We have recently seen several patients who have seen us for cosmetic high speed adult braces (such as 6 month smiles, Invisalign and the Inman aligner) where their own dentist had just suggested veneers for their crowded teeth. We believe wherever possible it is better to gently quickly reposition the teeth using cosmetic adult high speed braces rather than have to smooth down healthy teeth for veneers.
Veneers are an excellent option when tooth straightening alone will not be enough of a cosmetic improvement for the patient but should not automatically be the only option offered.
We do place hundreds of veneers where it is the only option the patient will accept or when the tooth shape needs to be changed. However even then we use very delicate techniques to ensure minimum disturbance to the natural teeth.
