The aim of the Academy is to provide affordable, high quality dentistry in the heart of Birmingham. Members of the Academy are highly experienced in their field, including Shakir Mughal (Dentist), Teresa Hughes (Hygienist), Martinne Dugmore (Practice Manager) and Denise (Dental Nurse).
Dr Jag Shergill
Dr Jag Shergill qualified in dentistry in 1991 from the University of Birmingham. He is the principal dentist at the The Academy of Birmingham Cosmetic Dentistry in Birmingham. He is highly skilled in all aspects of cosmetic dentistry and treats patients from all over the UK and the world. He has a reputation for consistent, high quality work.
Dr Shergill's particular expertise is in cosmetic smile makeovers, dental implants and cosmetic high speed braces. He enjoys the challenge of taking on complex cases and producing life-changing flawless smiles for his patients. A typical smile makeover may involve a combination of different treatments such as dental implants, crowns, veneers and teeth whitening to give the ultimate celebrity smile. Dr Shergill regularly tutors other dentists, passing on his many years of experience so that they can also offer their patients a high quality service. He also treats other dentists at the practice which is a testament to his high quality dentistry.
He has travelled the world and worked under the tutelage of eminent dental surgeons in London, Marseilles (France), Lisbon (Portugal), Gothenburg (Sweden) and South Africa. He is also one of a few of European dentists that has trained under the tutelage of the presigious Hornbrook group in the USA. Dr Shergill also has an MSc in dental implants from Warwick Medical School.
Outside of work, he spends time on all sports, travelling, watching motor racing, flying helicopters and intends to complete his helicopter training soon and enjoys excessive amounts of socialising.

Dr Thomas Wilmsen DDS - Cosmetic & Implant Dentist
Dr Thomas Wilmsen (DDS) graduated from the RWTH Aachen Technical University, Germany, dental school after studies in dentistry and medicine. Before that, he received a vocational training as a CAD / CAM technician at Mercedes Benz, Duesseldorf, Germany.
His interest and expertise is in cosmetic smile makeovers, dental implants and cosmetic high speed braces. He is always focused on the holistic perception of his patients. For this, he combines all forms of modern dentistry like dental implants, crowns, veneers, teeth whitening and adult cosmetic orthodontic braces. He has gained in-depth experience in cosmetic smile makeovers and cosmetic high speed braces.
He has been trained at the internationally renowned Hilt Tatum Clinic in Edgebaston, Birmingham in surgical and restorative dental implantology. After several courses in implant dentistry and training on most of the leading implant systems in the UK, Germany and Switzerland he has been granted fellowship of the Association of Dental Implantology UK (ADI) and the German Society of Implantology (DGI).
Recent studies in the field of cosmetic smile makeovers have taken him to high speed braces such as 6 monthsmiles, New York, USA and ongoing training in periodontics (medicine of healthy gums) for example.
Outside work he enjoys sports such as golfing and skiing, preferably in the Alps. He likes travelling all over the world and getting to know different cultures, and he collects his impressions with digital photography. Furthermore he loves all sorts of music.
